• What is this ?
This is an amateur website made to host Everyone Is Looking At You, a series
of comics inspired by the works of Omocat and Hajime Ueda. EILAY and
Pareidolia were created by me as a solo art project. Its a mix of
animations, comics, and individual artworks.
• What is "Everyone Is Looking At You" ?
EILAY was inspired by the work of Zalinki and the Omoriboy webcomic. Its a
surrealist depiction of real events or personal feelings illustrated in a
dissonant cartoon artstyle.
It stands out from its sister-series 'Pareidolia' with its animated one-page
comic strips telling a symbolic or anecdotal narrative.
It originated as an "art diary" meant to detail recent events in a strange
and explicit manner, its simple format was inspired by the Omoriboy comic
archive.
• Why the name "Everyone Is Looking At You" ?
I like long "statement-names" and wanted something that represents and
evokes anxiety. The name is intentionally similar to media like "Night in
the Woods" or "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared" which i enjoy.
• What is "Pareidolia" ?
Pareidolia was inspired by the OVA series FLCL, it's manga adaptation
illustrated by Hajime Ueda, and the Omoriboy webcomic. It's a surreal,
brutalist interpretation of my personal feelings, it stands out from EILAY
with its manga-inspired artstyle and more direct narrative. The comics are
episodic, spanning multiple pages with more detailed designs.
• Why the name "Pareidolia" ?
The original concept was a series of comics detailing fears i had, paranoia
about the future and what people thought, i knew these fears were
irrational, i likened them to seeing faces in the dark, like pareidolia.
• Who is Shūnyata ?
Shūn is the embodiment of dysmorphic and dysphoric feelings i
had at the time, they are a sexless elective mute representative of myself,
I'd like them to be representative of the few cisgender males with those
emotions aswell.
Their name is in reference to a Buddhist concept about nullity and lack of
intrinsic nature, i felt it was allegorical of at-the-time feelings of
depersonalization.
• What's with "Bathysphere"
